Aberdeen Nicht Oot Yes it's happening, tonight, after almost four full months in the grey toon, a nicht oot...
Me and Catty are heading off to the Ardoe House Hotel for some do her work is putting on.
Some might wonder why it has taken four months to go out, well a combination of timing and children have in the past put pay to any frivolity that may have otherwise been enjoyed, however tonight there is a FREE BAR!! Yes!! So plans were put in place to coerce her sister to stay for the weekend.....
Cheapskate much? Moi! Never.....
btk ;o)
No more burds please... This is the stupid bird that for the past three days between 5:45 - 6:15 in the AM has been standing on the stupid guttering that goes along the front of our bedroom window (I know I'm a plumber but just shhhhh OK) then flying in short bursts and pecking the ferking window!!!

What is it trying to do??
When we move the blinds it ferks off round the back to the kids room and resumes pecking on their window.
This cannot go on....
Parking Fines
Glasgow City Council suck, here's why. (if this is resolved without court action this might be renamed to Glasgow City Council rock, watch this space...)
If you have been following this on the askthetrades.co.uk trades forum then ignore the next bit, if not this should bring you up to speed....
I went to Glasgow(1st mistake, I know) on 10th December 2005 to let the kids see the Xmas lights and take in a movie. I parked in Renfield Street in a parking bay. I got out and looked for a meter/parking instructions, but couldn't find any so locked the car up and went on my merry way(assuming parking in Glasgow was free, why not, it is in Irvine!) I returned to the car a couple of hours later to find a parking fine on the windscreen on the passengers side. The following consists of various communications between myself and GCC...

- I am leaving this comment as my working commitments make it impossible for me to communicate during your normal office hours. I recieved a parking fine while parked in Renfield Street. I would like to make an informal challenge of this and point out there were no signs in place showing the area as a pay and display zone (I specifically checked this prior to leaving my vehicle as I was not trying to evade paying for parking, there was a restrictive sign showing for the yellow line area behind the bay I parked in, but no permissive or restrictive signs for the bay itself.) and no meters. The notice number is GN47486423 left on the 10th December at 16:30(I had barely crossed the street) by parking attendant PA115. The description of my car is also wrong. If I was aware of the pay and display zone I would obviously have paid to park there, I do not have any objections to parking charges, however since I do not consider this to be my fault I will not pay any fine. Please forward me details of parking charges for the area and I will gladly pay those.(I was parked there for almost four hours) If you do not consider this a fair course of action, please feel free to issue a Notice to Owner Form to me so that I may make formal representations including witness statements.
Feeling confident that this will be resolved with either a quick parking payment(I'm not trying to dodge the parking cost after all. I DID park there...), I continue with my life..

- I receive the Notice to Owner from GCC in with mail at Kilwinning(having moved to Aberdeen between these comms) It's dated and postmarked16th January 2006(37 days from the incident). The GCC have conspicuously left out all information about the car with the exception of the reg number.
This is turning out to be a pin in the ascii, GCC ignored my informal request totally and proceeded to statge 2. the offer to pay the original cost for parking is now withdrawn as far as I am concerned, ignorant mofos. It's officially ON!

- I replied to their Notice to owner by ticking the "Order was invalid" box and sent the following letter....
12 February 2006
Dear Sir/Madam
Below is a copy of the original email sent on 13th December 2005 through the GCC website (Land Securities). I do not know if this was ever received by the council as I had no reply…

I believe the order to be invalid on the following grounds…
1) Notices of parking restrictions were not clearly displayed. (There was scaffolding in the area, perhaps this was covering any notices)2) The description of the vehicle on the parking slip does not match my vehicle.3) The attendant did not give fair time to return with parking voucher/pay and display voucher or whatever is used at this location.
I would therefore ask the Council that the above points be taken into account during their considerations of representations. Please also make note of my new address above as I have recently moved, this is also the reason for the seemingly late response. I didn’t actually receive this notice to owner until January 28th when I was in Kilwinning for a short visit.
Yours sincerely

I sent that off, hoping for some reaction this time instead of the ritual ignorance I had previously enjoyed....

- I received this letter from them. They seem to be investigating this, but I have some problems....
- They already issued a Notice to Owner, so this would lead me to believe they are responding to my original email(13th December)
- According to http://www.ticketbusters.co.uk/ they have 56 days from the original informal challenge to respond, this letter is dated 75 days from that challenge.
- All councils have access to the DVLAs last log so why would they need me to send in my tax and MOT, perhaps they were trying to do me for those instead(which they couldn't as everything was in place.)
- Also I am pretty sure that only the vehicle inspectorate or the old bill can require production of documents.
Normally I would have paid the fine straight off, but this is becoming a big issue for me now, there is mo way I am sending money to an organisation who don't seem to have a grasp on proper proceedings. Anyhow at this point I was leaving for Ireland for two weeks so couldn't respond to this letter(see how GCC enjoy ignorance for once).
The most recent comms are this, you wont believe it.....
ONLY ANOTHER NOTICE TO OWNER!!!!

- I am going to reply to this notice to owner with the exact same letter I sent before, I wonder if I can draw this out to a year....
Watch this space.....
Real Life I just realised that I haven't posted anything during the entire month of March. OK so nobody noticed but I still was shocked. I guess real life has yet again gotten in the way of blog/web life..... curses.
To be fair I was away for a couple of weeks in March to Ireland, working with Village Idiot at Eircom sites. Here is a picture of, quoting VI, "billythekid getting his hole" at work in a place called Portlaoise, pronounced portleash....
St Patrick's Day in Ireland held great promise, but the alcohol consumption was kept to a low level, probably best as the weekend previous we met up with Legs_Akimbo aka Robbo for drinks in Castlebar. Damn, that Sunday was rough. Should have had a hair of the dog. VI was on vodka and matched me drink for drink, doubles, didn't even get a headache, got up early enough to get his breakfast too! bastard. Thank gawd he was driving that day.Back here Catty is showing. I am taking every opportunity to remind her of this of course. It's GREAT that as a man I will never endure labour, well not in the way women do! I do however endure the following 18 years just as much so I should really keep it shut! (good advice for Catty actually, where did 4 kids fit in with my teenage plans of world domination?) I love being a dad though, so plan B turned out OK.
My mum is staying with us for a few days, so I've been trying to think of things to do, didn't help that I had to work yesterday. Still was finished in time to get the van back to Nairn and get my ass back here by 4-ish so we went to the Foam Factory with the kids. Great place to spend time with them, without actually spending time with them. And with coffee at 20p and pizzas at £1 it's cost effective. Everyone leaves the place stuffed for under a tenner, unusual for Aberdeen!
I also found this on the ACC website. This deserves a further look. I didn't think there were any classes around the grey toon.
Another website which I found from the bitches site, is this one. If you never read another thing on the internet ever, read this site. I signed up to his mailing list. The guy got a book deal off the back of that site apparently.
I am also running a beta version of my player for the time being as I am working on a fairly advanced set of coding, well advanced for me! I'm coding a slider for playing the songs from a specific place in the song, but I can't get the coding to work well. I can get it to play from where you slide it to, and I can get it to move along with the song. I can't get it to do both in unison though! If it's moving with the song when I move it manually it jumps, sticks, resets to where it was pre-drag etc. so it's not going out yet and you will have to make do with the current build. I also created my first .exe using Flash. Go take a look! Very simple program. Here's the online version(you need flash to view online).
If anyone wants the version I am using it is always available from here. This one supports WMA as well so that should appeal to some of you *looks at Jo-el*.
I was up that "Grampian Eye" big wheel today. Damn it was windy. Catty phoned me from her work while I was at the top, could barely make out what she was saying. Billie-Jo wasn't scared, but she needed me to cuddle her to, "keep me warm". Yeah...
I also think I stumbled across the murder scene of the guy from
Edinburgh. I went up the back of the scheme here to see if I could find a country park that I'm sure I saw on Google Earth. Anyhow I went past the golf course(can't remember it's name, Craibstone?) up here only to find the road blocked by the police and a camera van in the middle of the road. I wondered what was going on but didn't stop to ask the polis. I drove on my merry way. Then I saw the story on the news tonight. Whatcha think....It wasn't me. before anyone suggests it.
You might catch me rockin' but I'm country down to my soul.
Sometimes I'd rather kill you than listen to your honesty, but you've always been a friend to me.
